about the teaching artist

Annie Lee is a Korean American painter whose work is rooted in community engagement and social connection. Born in Seoul, Korea, she studied at the Columbus College of Art and Design, earning her BFA in Illustration in 2006 before completing her Master of Arts in Art Education at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2024.

In 2017, Lee founded Chicago Moms Art, a weekly painting group held at the Korean Cultural Center that offers mothers a space to connect, create, and express themselves through watercolor and acrylic. She teaches as an act of giving herself to others and aims to inspire a lifelong love of art in the students she works with.
